 | Planet Earth -- in motion. Timelapse ice flows over the Arctic, billowing storm clouds over the Caribbean and beautiful blooming algae off the west coast of Southern Africa. BDH's meticulous work involved stitching many high resolution photographs from NASA, to create these real images within our computers. Other work involved the planning and steadying of many timelapse sequences and the sensitive matching of atmospheric effects. Planet Earth is an 11 part series and the world's first television series produced nearly entirely on HD. This video was created by David Bayliss* However, the majority of the footage used in this video is the property of TS Production LLC. The footage is freely available to download and distribute around the world. * Most of the footage is that of TS production LLC, In this video I have re-mastered the quality, added visual enhancements, effects, adding secondary objects (suns etc), music, extended the video with more clips, titles, a much more. Therefore this video was created by myself but I do not claim to own the footage. I have not mixed any of the original footage around because it was already in the perfect order. If you believe all I have done is taken the original footage and added different music, you would be wrong. The overall quality, effects and feel to the video has been enhanced. In my opinion and those who have commented. |

Global Seafloor Update in Google Earth
 | Explore a new updated global seafloor with data curated by the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California at San Diego, in partnership with NOAA, the US Navy, NGA, and GEBCO (with major contributions from JAMSTEC, IFREMER and IBCAO). The global shaded relief derived from this data is the basis of the ocean as seen in both Google Earth and Google Maps. This update covers ocean topography from all over the globe and reveals our most accurate view of the seafloor to date. The global topography combines echosoundings made during surveys by ships with other satellite data to fill the gaps between ship surveys. The new detail comes from including newly acquired and processed shipboard sounding data. With this update to ocean terrain data in Google Earth, 15 percent of the seafloor is now available at 1 km resolution. In order to make this update possible, David Sandwell at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UCSD in partnership with Walter Smith at NOAA have curated 30 years of data from more than 8000 ship cruises and 135 different institutions. The details of this bathymetry prediction process are described in two publications: topex.ucsd.edu and topex.ucsd.edu This particular data set includes 290 million depth soundings; the details are included in the following publication: topex.ucsd.edu |
