Exactly! John Lee hooker influence. Go check him out. Actually I always thought this song influenced by the Doors Roadhouse Blues. The beat is all Hooker but the vocal phrasing on this was copied by Morrison a year later. Man...Canned Heat just rocked.....

It's so groovy to see that a Canned Heat video is almost at one million views! These guys deserve that recognition, granted they've always deserved it. I found out about this band from my ex-hippie mother when I was 9 years old. Been loving them since then. Just to let y'all know, this song will be included on the 6-CD box set that's due out on August 18th. ALL 30 MINUTES OF IT....UNEDITED! So like The Bear tells ya....DON'T FORGET TO BOOGIE!

yeah as soon as i hit post comment i knew I was wrong lol, you can tell its an open tuning once he strums all six strings and does the slide vibrato

It's open A, you can hear it when he strums the open strings before he starts on the boogie.

my guess would be standard tuning because when he stops doing the slide and does the boogie strumming it looks like hes just doing an A minor, and that sounds about right
