hmm if you didn't know, whitney's live peformances of this song she hits many high notes much higher than the studio version. Just because she did a song that has no big vocals it doesn't mean it was because she couldn't. She simply wanted a relaxed song and at that point in time that's what was popular on radio, midtempo relaxed r&b jams.
Sadly, if you remember chart history, this was the song that was on the charts when Whitney was caught with Marijuana in Hawaii on January, 11, 2000. That day until/unless Whitney comes back will forever be known as the day that "Whitney's music died". This song spent 26 weeks on the Hot 100, no song afterward would come close. The lower vocal range on this suggests that in the back of our minds, "What happened to Whitney's high range?"
