how old is that box, and how much is it worth about? i never saw that kind of needle and arm, except in movies.

The band was named after this song!

Make sure you give that gramophone a lot of TLC, that's a nice sounding little box :)

what? I thought this was going to be smoke on the water XD

awesome

This is my favorite Artie Shaw tune. THANKS so much for posting it! Artie was TOPS...and Helen Forrest was one of the BEST of the bigband vocalists. Sheer heaven to listen to! :)

it's good!

hello i am 43 years old orchestra conductor major in percussion and organ jazz and classical.

Hey, How old are you ? I'm 47 ...-)

wow i suddenly felt so nostalgic after listening to this awesome song. I haven't heard it for decades. Thanks so much for posting.

thank u

There is absolutely no comparison for artistic value and depth between the Clinton/Wain and the Shaw/Forrest - you have no idea how wrong you are. Not to get personal, but you don't--have--a--clue. There is and was a good reason the Clinton version was #1 for 9 weeks in 1939, and Shaw's only made it to # 17. And although Shaw's band was by far and away more vital and important band, on this one Clinton and his singer, Bea Wain was the sun to their mere moon.

I love Helen Forrest....Wonderful addition. Nice player, Helen on 78, This is 'the good stuff' my friend.

yes but this is the one that matters

Hi , thanks for your comment... But I don't have the record :-) Are you interested in 78 rpm records... I have about 5000 78 rpm home...:-) Were are you from ? I'm in Belgium

You should really load in "Deep Purple" by Larry Clinton Orchestra, featuring Bea Wain on vocal, which is the definitive version. The Clinton version was #1 for NINE weeks in 1939, Shaw's only made it to #17.

Great quality !!!
